Bronze & Iron Ages

Early welding began in the Bronze and Iron Ages where two or more pieces of metal were melted together at high temperatures. Welding was predominantly used for making weapons, helping with transportation methods, and producing jewelry.

Middle Ages

During the Middle Ages, we see the predominance of blacksmithing and the development of forge welding where metals were fused together by heat. Forging helped to bring about the early Renaissance, as chains, swords, gates, doors, and more were made with forging.

Industrial Revolution

The Industrial Revolution saw the invention of arc welding, which made precision cuts possible. Arc welding was and still is a popular and effective welding method that was used to produce weapons and ships during the World Wars.

Modern Welding Today

Welding today is a quick and efficient process thanks to all of those who came before. It has many practical and technical applications and is used frequently in many industries. Modern welding techniques are safe and offer better performance.
