Qualify

Before anything else, you want to make sure that you qualify to take the CWI exam. To qualify, you must have a combination of both education and work experience in welding. The more education you have, the less work experience you need, and vice versa. Finally, you must be approved by the American Welding Society (AWS) to take the CWI certification exam, as they are the organization that offers it. Before you can take the exam, you must also pass an eye exam, as welding inspection is a very visually intensive task.

Choose Your Part C

The CWI exam is broken up into three parts — Part A, Part B, and Part C. Part A and Part B are the same for everyone taking the test, however, when it comes to Part C, there are 8 different options to choose from. The Part C code book that you choose is completely up to you. It can be one that you are most familiar with, one with the least amount of pages for studying purposes, or any other one that you feel most inclined to choose.

Study & Apply

Studying for the CWI exam is the most important step in becoming a Certified Welding Inspector. The three  CWI exams total six hours long, which is why it’s important to have some sort of training under your belt. This is where our courses at Real Educational Services, Inc. come in handy. We provide high-quality, technical, hands-on training that not only will help you pass your CWI exam, but will also prepare you for your future as a Certified Welding Inspector. When you’re ready to take the test, all you need to do is complete and send in your CWI Initial Application and submit every other requirement. Once you have confirmed the location of the exam, you can book your flight and/or hotel room.
